BCCI can get rich from IPL's media rights:Rights can be sold from Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000 crore, Star and Sony are at the forefront of the race

 The bidding for the new season of IPL is to be held on February 12 and 13. Apart from this mega auction, media rights of IPL are also to be sold after 5 years. BCCI is expected to benefit a lot by selling the rights of media rights. Several networks like Sony Sports Network, Disney Star Network, Reliance-Viacom are in the fray to get IPL media rights, but the frontrunners in the race are Sony Sports Network and Star Network.

If reports are to be believed, the BCCI could earn almost three times the amount earned for the 2018-2022 cycle. In the year 2018, Star India bought media rights for over Rs 16,347 crore. Prior to Star India, Sony Pictures Networks held the media rights (for Rs 8,200 crore) for a decade.

ITT can be
floated till 10 February ITT Invitation of Tender (ITT) can be called before 10 February through E-auction to be held in the last week of March between 2023 and 2027. After selling these rights, the BCCI can earn more than three times that of the 2018-2022 season, at which time Star India had bought the rights of more than 16,347 crores.

Prior to Star India, Sony Pictures Networks held media rights for a decade with ₹8,200 crore. The BCCI now expects the amount to triple in the 2023-27 season.

It could be in the range of Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000 crore. BCCI may float the IPL media rights tender with the mega auction to be held in Bengaluru from February 12 to 13.

BCCI said can make bumper earnings
A top BCCI official said that Indian cricket is ready to earn a bumper from the sale of the new season of IPL rights. Don't be surprised if it reaches Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000 crore.

Speaking about media rights, Walt Disney Co India and Star India President K Madhavan said, “Sports business is an investment mode for us and we will not shy away from investing heavily. We are excited about the renewal of all rights including IPL.
